Dear Livejournal, [Aug. 23rd, 2006|07:00 pm]
[Feel'n | shocked]

Today Samuel L. Jackson, an actor who I respect for being a Bad Mother Fucker as well as a serious actor, called me at work to insult my car, my job and my hair, told me to go watch a movie I've already seen and then hung up on me.

What a jerk.

PS That guy must be on drugs or something cause his sentences really didn't flow together well.

Well, That's Unexpected. [Nov. 28th, 2005|03:51 pm]
I am official unemployed. About three weeks ahead of schedule. I knew that five day weekend was a bad omen.

Hasn't really sunk in yet.

Have been working more than full time for so long it's really fucking weird to not have any sort of set schedule till january.

I'm leaving behind a whole set of friends and friendly aquaintances I've spent most of my time with for a year and a half.

I'll miss most of them.

goddamnit, this was not according to plan.

Still Alive [Nov. 3rd, 2005|07:33 pm]
Still alive, in case anyone was wondering.

Not much to report really. I'm still going back to school in the spring, still really looking forward to it. Still really looking forward to leaving my dead-end job, but I can't help but wonder if I'm making a mistake. I mean, at this point I'm feeling like a neccessary part of the company. I've gone from feeling totally overwhelmed with responsibilities to feeling fairly skilled in this position. I've got all my systems set up, a daily routine down... everything flows pretty well. I like the people I work with... mostly. And the money is good enough for me to not worry if I can afford to walk through best buy. I guess I'm mostly worried about failing at school again, having quit a perfectly acceptable job for the privilage to burn a bunch of cash sitting in a classroom.

The worst part has got to be that I'm seeing all my highschool classmates finishing their degrees and coming home sucessful and happy, and I get to tell them I ddr'd away my first semester and couldn't be bothered to get back into school.

what the fuck. I'll give it a shot anyway.

Instead of doing things like e-mailing potential professors and calling to set up a time to register for classes, I've been playing video games.

City of Villians is pretty awesome. The new engine updates make the cityscapes look even more amazing and the new costume options make for even more time playing Barbie Dress-Up: Comix Edition. I don't really have any gripes besides that the Dominator archetype needs more damage or a better innate ability and they need to fix the labcoat model so my character's undershirt doesnt show through the back all the time. Friggin clipping issues.

Call of Cthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth is the most frustrating game I've ever played ever. I know it's supposed to be realistic and all, but the first three hours of gameplay I can't find a weapon in an entire town full of fishpeople?! I mean honestly, stealth is great and all, but after my fifteenth death, I get tired of having to listen to the same 5 minute cinematic so I can try to make that three foot jump again.

FEAR is awesome. Buy it. Steal it. Whatever it takes. This is a game that will make you afraid of little girls. The only problem you may encounter is that it needs a beefy machine to run it. So worth the price of a new graphics card though.

Oh hey I forgot what I was talking about. Time to hit the update button.

Movies! [Sep. 27th, 2005|10:46 pm]
[Feel'n | good]

Just saw Howls Moving Castle. Definately my favorite Miyazaki film. The ending seemed a little contrived but I'm willing to ignore that for the sheer awesomness of the rest of the film. Hard to pick out a favorite moment. Would probably have to be Howls temper tantrum: "I don't see the point of living if I can't be beautiful" and the reaction to it "He's calling the spirits of darkness... I saw him do this once when a girl dumped him." Much better dialog than the other Miyazakis.

Anyway. Go see it. It's awesome.

Ew? [Aug. 23rd, 2005|05:43 pm]
[music |Brainwave Symphony - Alpha]

I've had this nasty infected toenail for a couple weeks now. It doesn't hurt all that much unless I accidentally kick something, but when I wake up every morning it bleeds and oozes puss. I used it to leave early one day though. Told them I was going to go to the hospital but I went home and stuck a safety pin in it instead. It's been getting better slowly, but man does it ever look nasty.

I've been watching Miami Ink on TLC on tuesdays. It's really amazing watching those guys work. Really makes me want to get something of my own, but I have no idea what. I'd like for it to have an amazing, deep meaning too, so people will be impressed when I launch into an hour-long tale when they ask about it. I may have put too much thought into this.

Maybe I'll get a wizard riding a unicorn on a rainbow in space. I hear that's popular these days.

Delayed Trip Report [Jun. 11th, 2005|10:55 pm]
Ok, I'm a horrible person. There are no pictures because my mother refuses to let me take charge of the camera and then leaves it in the hotel. I'm sorry. Please don't lynch me.

The drive down to Rolla was absolutely horrible. 9 1/2 hours of corn, gas stations with no bathrooms and the unending search for fast food. and bathrooms, because someone has a bladder the size of your average ping pong ball. The one upside to this all was driving my mothers newish SUV, the novelty of which faded quickly.

Checked into hotel, dismayed to find an outdoor pool filled with dead bugs and leaves.

Dinner with grandmother and her boyfriend-who-used-to-employ-brad-pitt-to-wash-his-floors. Had an awesome make your own fajitas thingy, was tasty. Managed to mostly ignore relatives. Success!

Spent evening trying to get City of Heroes to run on laptop. Massive failure. Cried myself to sleep.

Woke in the morning, called Express about vacation time. Had three days after over a year of working for them. Burned them up for the trip. Went swimming with the dead bugs and the leaves. Found massive not so dead bug. Got creeped out and fled pool. Went to University of Missouri Rolla for lunch, free except for my sister's tuition! Was mistaken for future student of UMR, told all about paintball club and ROTC benefits. Went back to hotel and got all-time high score of 200k on lumines. Watched TV.

Went to fantastic Japanese resturant for dinner with mother and sister. Greeted by golden waving robotic cat in japanese as we entered the building. Had Sashimi. Had California rolls. Had teriaki chicken. Was amazinly good. spent most of the time trying to remember how to use chopsticks. Still suceeded better than my tablemates. messy messy.

Back to hotel, watched 3 hour loop of programs on discovery channel 1 1/2 times.

Drove home on an alternate route. Took about the same ammount of time, except this time with clean bathrooms, fast food and an amazing rest stop with wireless internet and coffee vending machine. may move in there if made homeless.

aaannnndd.. that was my trip. Now just imagine this post, except with a bunch of awesome pictures, like a japanese guy in a black and white checkered robe cutting up raw fish. that's what this was supposed to be.

oh well. anyway, bed time.

Follow the Yellow-Brick Road? [Jun. 7th, 2005|06:25 am]
Well, I'm packed and full of coffee, so it looks like it's nearly time for me to leave. I'm going with my sister and my mother to Rolla, Missouri for Ginny's college orientation-y visit... thing. I'm not exactly sure why I was invited and I'm certainly very confused as to why I said "yes", but it's too late now to change my mind.

Pro: 3 days off of work! Free internet hotel! Pool! Family-somthing-or-other!

Cons: 3 unpaid days off work! Surrounded by Familyicantescapeohgodsendhelp! Eight hours of driving both ways! Nothing to do but play lumines, read and play coh on a comparatively slow laptop!

I imagined those lists being alot longer when I started them, but you get the idea.
anyway, time's a'wastin, I have a lot of internet to fit in the next 15 minutes.

Back with pictures on friday.

OMG AWESOME [Mar. 7th, 2005|10:23 pm]
[Feel'n | happy]

Ok, Con was pretty cool. I should make a post later about specifics and so on. However, it's late, so I'm just gonna say that K is really, really, awesome for making a 2 second .avi into the most ass-kicking animated gif ever.

Thanks K.

(oh, btw, those are little magnetized raver toys they sell at the dealers room at con. I <3 the blinky.)

Work! [Jul. 15th, 2004|07:28 am]
[Feel'n | groggy]

Yesterday I went into Express to do some clerical testing to verify my msword skillz, and it seems I may be able to get a help-desky type job right here in St. Charles. Hopefully I interview friday. In the meantime, I am the waking up at 5:30 so as to have internet and super-hero time before my two-day stint working for "Jet Black", an asphalt coating company. I am supposed to be there at eight. Coffee give me strength! Anyway, that's what's going on.

Oh yeah, and there's some stuff with having a baby 'round the house, but I'm sure you don't care about that.

City of Heroes [Jul. 12th, 2004|10:19 am]
I bought city of Heroes monday last week. So far I have spent about three hours in the costume creation part of the game and about ten to twenty in the actual game.

Heh. looks like I need to buy another copy though, Becky expressed interest in playing and now has two characters on my account, I'm hoping that I can get her addicted to, um, actual games... y'know... with graphics?

But anyway, that's been what's going on with me. That and con. and the littlest ninja, who is still cute, but slightly less so with giant baby-pimples on her face.

Um. did I post on Con alreay? It was fun. Lots and lots of fun, actually. I didn't really do that much there, but just being around all that geek was really awesome. I'm posting now because I'm trying to apply online at Mayo and their site is finicky.

I'm going to be getting a job in the next week or so. I don't care where anymore, I just need to work. I'm going up to express personel today to get a check and talk to them about their horrible lack of jobs for me.

but anyway. I've got some awesome pictures from convention that I'll post as soon as Jim gets them up.

Later.

AAAH! We get the house tomorrow!
It'll be a couple weeks till we're entirely moved in, but still.. house, room to move about and space put things. Yay. Contemplating setting up semi-permanent DDR shrine. Hm.. I'll need to get some decent dance mats and a copy of Ultramix. Oh yeah, and one of these. Huh. Maybe I can sell an organ or something. Anyone need a kidney?

Night Life [Apr. 17th, 2004|04:05 am]
I keep telling myself I need to start going to bed earlier.

That's going quite nicely, as I'm sure you can see.

Bought Painkiller and a 160gb drive today. Was considering a new lcd monitor, but someone talked me out of it. Stupid logic.

Erm, Painkiller is mindless carnagey fun, making a nice contrast with too-many-rulesey Neverwinter, which is my other super-favoritest game right now.

Both eat far too much of my time... which is ok, since work from express is slow.

Ooh! I've been playing with binaural beats lately. They don't seem to have a super-strong effect on me, but the programs are fun to play with. Speaking of which, I'm gonna try one of those to get me to sleep.

'cause it's 4:21, and I've got events planned for today.

God, I'm boring lately.

Weekly Update [Apr. 7th, 2004|11:05 pm]
I'm playing alot of Neverwinter Nights, hoping that I'll get a multiplayer game going this weekend when Rowekamp comes down for easter.

Behlman e-mailed me. He's going to con now. Apparently he has a radio show that plays alot of Luke Ski and TMBG. Rock the fuck on. Demented forever!

Lastly, the job search goes slowly. I know I need money, but it's hard to get the motivation to actively look for work.

Ugh.

I'mma go play my Monk/RDD/Sorcerer some more.
